Canvases should be rested on an easel or a flat work surface with minimal pressure on the flexible, unsupported area of the canvas.

Avoiding to do so will result in dents to your canvas' surface. To fix dents on a canvas surface, spray the back of the canvas using a plant mister or other spray bottle and rub the water into the canvas with a clean rag, or drench a piece of tissue with water and apply tot he back of the canvas where the dent is. You don't want to use too much water but enough so that the water works its way into the weave of the canvas. Allow the canvas to dry.

Stretch canvases come with small wooden wedges that can be driven into the wooden joins to alter the tautness of the canvas' display surface.
